01 – Signage

Functional by day and night. Let's start by introducing the space. Galera is a cultural centre conformed by a Restaurant, a Library, a Venue and a Co–Working Space, It is located at the Colonia Doctores in Mexico City. The signage needed to be versatile as it may guide someone to the offices early in the morning, while show the way to the bathroom during a concert in the evening. This is why we developed a system made out of white luminous acrylic boxes that works both at day and night. It's sleekness and minimalism contrasts with the high–textured green walls and the disorganized spirit of the architecture.

02 – Corporate Identity

Upcycling unwanted materials. For the team it was really important to use materials the space already held rather than bringing in new ones and thus generating waste. With this in mind, we used copper plumbing to make a sculpture of the icon and placed it in the entrance. We also reused old X–Rays by printing the team's business cards onto them. Both of these wastes were used in the architecture so the corporate applications echo with the space they inhabit. Regarding the logo design, Galera's icon represents an abstract and non–rounded version of a knot. We developed this concept around the idea of community and friendship.

03 – Customer Experience

Warm and practical.  The experience of an average visitor is very different from the one that goes to Galera for work purposes. That's why we decided to have a warmer approach to print applications that interact directly with customers, such as the restaurant menu. These applications also need to be very practical and easily to change or replace, as their content changes with regularity. To solve this, we made an A4–based design that can be printed anywhere by anyone.

04 – Communication

Keeping our identity while holding space for others. Since Galera hosts a series of events that sometimes have their own design, we had to develop a strong and clear visual system that allows viewers to understand in a glance what type of content they are reading whether it is an institutional message, a throwback, an event flyer, a quote, or just a picture of the space. We built the system through color, typography, frames and object mockups.
